4 days Meteora, Metsovo, Zagoria, Acheron, with optional Lefkada/Preveza drop off.

Day 1 

Our driver will meet you early morning at your Athens accommodation and head out of the city towards Northern Greece. After a stop to one of the most famous battlefields in history, Thermopylae, we make our way to Meteora. We arrive at Meteora where you will visit 2 of the monasteries and have a break for lunch. In the late afternoon you will get a glimpse of the monasteries at sunset. Overnight at a hotel with rooms that overlook the rocks.

Day 2

After breakfast, we visit one more monastery before we make our way to the stunning village of Metsovo in Pindos’ mountains. Free time to walk and why not visit the Averoff winery. Then we head to the capital of Ipirus, Ioannina, where you can visit the castle and the rest sights of the Ottoman era. Lunch stop at a tavern with local specialties and free time to walk around the famous Lake. Overnight at a hotel  overlooking the Lake.

Day 3

After breakfast, we will make our way to the beautiful villages of Zagoria with their stunning nature and picturesque stone bridges. We will explore as many villages as possible and we will also take you the viewpoint of the world’s “deepest relative to its width” gorge, Vikos. Overnight in one of the villages (Megalo Papigko or Aristi).

Day 4

In the morning those who are adventurous, can either hike around the gorge (recommended only for experienced hikers)  or go rafting across Voidomatis river (one of the coldest in Europe).  Alternatively, if you are doing the tour in the summer/spring we can take you to the “ancient river of pain” , Acheron , where you can swim, go canoeing- kayaking or even horseback riding. If you are taking a sailboat from Lefkada or Preveza, we can drop you off there or we can head back to Athens with a stop at Nafpaktos to enjoy the view from the Castle and have a lunch break. We arrive back to Athens by early evening after passing to Peloponesse region via Rio/Antirio bridge and a short stop at Corinth Canal.
